(79,424 posts)The only thing that I disagree with you on is the part that Trump is "mentally ill." He is a sociopath, which means that he is morally ill, or ethically ill. Thus, under pressure, he is prone to experiencing (relatively) brief periods of psychosis, but in the overall sense, it a sociopath is not mentally ill. It is accurate, however, to say that the mental health system is tasked with "treating" many sociopaths, due to the relationship between that system and the legal system. The mental health experts have identified the most accurate manner to identify sociopaths, which is helpful to the legal system. And it is true that, like the rest of the population, a sociopath may have a major mental illness, such as a bi-polar disorder.
My next response to my friend below shall expand upon the other issues invoolved. I understand his/her point of view, and am not suggesting that it is not valid in some ways. But I think it is important to study that Constitution, and recognize that it has expansive implications.
