People seem to forget that the reason for the shutdown was not to stop the virus, it was to SLOW the spread. This was done to not overwhelm the hospital system, and to give them time to maximize supplies.

I don’t know if the reopening is too soon, or not, but I do know that we will find out soon enough. We can not shutdown until a vaccine is in place, so no matter when we do open up, more people will become infected. The question is can the hospitals handle the new cases.

The vast majority of our hospitals are running on low census, and furloughing workers, lets hope they have stored enough supplies to handle what may come.

Changing the goalposts away from the original purpose (not overwhelming the health system) doesn’t help our case.
