(1,675 posts)I am going to say this in a completely incorrect way so please forgive me. My daughter has had therapists and teachers her whole life. This particular therapist would meet with her weekly and they would talk like conventional therapy but she is a specialist with Austic kids. Over the years, there has been progress made so that there are "connections" happening in the left side of her brain that had not been happening before. I think there is only so far that you can go with this but it she has made some pretty dramatic strides. So I don't think of her who is someone who is trapped or written in stone. I think there is some fluidity. And my daughter is now self aware of her difficulties. Just being aware of her self and being able to tell me she doesn't understand what I am asking her to do is a huge help and will serve her well in her life. If there is one think I have learned it is that there is no end to possibilities!
