In reply to the discussion: No wonder that thing is having a hissy fit. Obama's ratings were YUGE [View all]Collimator

Now, let's be frank. Obama's inauguration was bound to be better attended because it was a moment in history. Even people who didn't like him may have tuned in on their televisions to hate-watch.
This is not to belittle President Obama or his accomplishments, but reportedly even John McCain understood the historical significance of the election of the first black man to the presidency of the United States.
Of course, the accomplishments of Obama's election and his presidency are brought into even greater relief by those who disparage him for no other reason than his color.
Obama had to be twice as capable and effective to get where he did because of the social disadvantage of his color. Trump has had every social advantage, and he has not been even marginally effective.
Even if Trump were marginally effective, his impact on history will never be as significant as Obama's. So, of course, the little crybaby's ratings are lower. The people who love him do so because of everything that they hate. The people who love Obama do so because of everything that they hope for our country.
Hope beats hate in the ratings game. Even over the long overview of human history--much of which is ugly and disturbing--Hope always wins over hate.
