(31,261 posts)Black players that are highly recruited should chose schools that value educating them. Kids should have a plan if they end up hurt so bad that they can no longer play. I can't count the number of times that I read about former LSU, Alabama, Clemson Black former players that didn't make it to the NFL and had no life skills, college did nothing for them. Those players were four and five star players in high school, with NFL dreams, I wish their parents had pushed their education in high school, so they could get into schools like Stanford or Harvard (H doesn't do scholarships, but if a blue chip high school player who qualified academically wanted in, the school would find enough financial aid). Those kids are going to be used as gladiators anyway, why not be at a school that is also educating them for a real economic future?
We need more parents like the parents of Senator Corey Booker (athletic scholarship at Stanford).
