My younger son stops in almost daily to help me with "projects" such as the garden and mowing the lawn. Though he is unhappy that the NYS Golden Gloves' finals are canceled this year -- the 4th in a row he's been in the finals -- he also trains in the gym he set up here. And he jokes that he will get me back into "fighting shape." I tell him that when one reaches the age of 40, all old injuries come back from time to time to visit. At age 50, they come back full-time. By 60, they are in charge. (grin)
I try to maintain a strict, healthy diet. I can't remember the last time I ate "fast food," and I wouldn't feed it to my dog. Due to injuries sustained in an auto wreck, I am heavier than I wish. I exercise enough that after my last doctor's exam, I was told that my numbers were the best that they have been in over 15 years. Yet I recognize that, as an old man, I am not a picture of health. And that's with the self-discipline of a former boxer, who has had relatively little stress in recent times.
I can identify with your last three words, as I am also falling apart. It is a matter of degree for those our age. And, exactly as you noted, Trump's life-style isn't one that slows that process down. Life is catching up to him.
