(58,785 posts)Frankly, I'm glad that's not my district. The foolish irresponsibility of the nearly 90% who didn't bother to vote in the last election didn't result in choices too illiberal left and too potential blue-dog right to represent me. I feel sure that's not what those who just blew off their primary election imagined would come of it.
It seems possible that as MCC claims she really is both economically conservative and socially liberal -- a combination that many millions of women share. Including Elizabeth Warren, with her big-thinking iconoclastic fixes designed to build on liberal New Deal advances (our traditional ways, thus natural fits for traditional conservatives).
So, after 2 years of Ocasio's contribution to 2016 and her record since as this district's congresswoman, I would have to give serious consideration to whether a future blue dog might imperfectly but better reflect my wishes for a responsible social liberal candidate. I'd of course depend on the rest of the house caucus, and her own NY delegation, to keep her from doing economic harm.
As I said, glad it's not my choice, but I would be looking at all choices in hopes of myself making the best choice while doing the least harm.
Don't like it, oh well.
