When I lived and worked in England, they took a percentage of my income for health insurance.
And I got care and testing, etc for $00
Its time, its doable and its the RIGHT thing to do.
This crappy state by state piece meal coverage with patchwork insurance benefits is causing so many headaches.
Does the government not understand that with one system, it will cut costs on red tape and administration?
Some will ask, what do you do with all the insurance company employees?
Put them to work processing all the enrollees initially. Then phase some out to do data analysis of healthcare data to improve patient outcomes.
In the NHS, there were people who input data into the computer system for each patients Visit and their diagnosis. This data was later analyzed in order to improve patient outcomes and make care more efficient and keep costs low.
Here in the states, even in rural hospitals, the data on patient visits is oftrn input in real time. The diagnosis Codes are added at that time or later by medical coders. Same with procedures performed.
With Medicare for all, this information would be analyzed in order to improve out comes.
Right now, the codes are used to drive the insurance claims process.
We still need bodies for it all to work. They just might be doing different jobs.
