I hated how redneck the state was while I was in my teens and got out to CA as soon as I could. Fast forward 20 years, I was married, had babies but no family there. I wanted my children to grow up with relatives, knew my mom would be the best grandmother ever. I moved back and FL had changed some, schools were integrated and the race wars over schools had stopped. Then Jeb came in with all his lies and repugs took over, they think for good. Ever since then, elections are so dirty here, teacher pay declined precipitously under Voldemort, and now DeSantis is fine with killing us for the sake of "business". I certainly understand the drive to get out of here.

Both my kids and my sister live here, which is the main reason we stay, plus we really like our house and the area where we live. But it's the family that has kept us here. If they move, we will definitely consider it.
