(442 posts)She was 83 and physically quite healthy but had early stage dementia. Her daughter was caring for her own ill husband so the mom was in a very nice nursing home that had no Covid cases. The company that owns the nursing home owns several others in the area, one of which was completely full and had widespread Covid cases. As there were many Covid cases in that town (and thus more $$ to be made from them), the company transferred a bunch of Covid cases to the Covid-free facility our friend was in so they could fill the other one up with new Covid patients. Of course, the virus quickly spread in the Covid-free facility and our friend died. Her daughters and son who were very close with her had to say goodbye to their mother over FaceTime with a nurse holding the phone. It was heartbreaking.
