... assuming that reason will win out over irrational motives like racism and sexism. My wife works in a nursing home in a very red (and poor) rural county in southern Illinois. Her coworkers are all racist rednecks despite all being educated therapists some with doctorate degrees. They are in full fledged denial and rationalization for every stupid and traitorous Trump statement and action. I don't expect such people to change their stripes after everything they've ridden out for 4 years. Unfortunately most of them are racists first and health care professionals second.
