4. I am not even sure how it would work these days

It worked back then when there were three stations doing 30 minutes of news a night. And it was only on broadcast because those were public property.

Now we have a dozen primary outlets doing 24/7 infotainment and hundreds of others providing some other kind of video content . And the lines are blurred between broadcast, cable, streaming, internet, youtube, social media etc.

I don't even know what the fairness doctrine would look like now.

Don't get me wrong, I would love to have it. I just am not sure it is feasible.
