...is his referring to St. Johns as a Protestant church. Lots of Episcopalians, probably a majority, consider their denomination to be reformed Catholic, deeply dislike being lumped in as Protestant (which they connect to right-wing evangelicals), and get really annoyed when Roman Catholics dismiss the Episcopal Church, as has been done repeatedly over the ages, in a derogatory way as just another group of Protestant schismatics and heretics. It wont sit well with some Episcopalians to see a Roman Catholic candidate go out of his way to describe their parish as a Protestant church why not just a church?
