A Republican friend (not a Trumper) offered an interesting observation [View all]

He suggested that it will be harder for some Republicans not to vote for Trump if he's blocked from getting a SCOTUS nomination through before the election. To put it another way: They care more about the SCOTUS seat than about having Trump be president, so if they got the seat now, they'd be happy to watch Trump lose in November, but if they don't get the seat now, they may feel like they have to support Trump to prevent Biden from getting to nominate RBG's successor.
