That is a huge difference as the media quickly parsed what was said and what was not said. It was quickly clear that he at some point had received oxygen support. That is not a little thing as he would have been in the first few days, not the 5 to 8 days period when things can turn very bad. This likely explains why he was treated with both the antibodies and the drug found to help people with breathing problems.

Also note they said he had no fever today. Am I cynical to question why they did not add that this was without any fever lowering medication?

What seems clear is that he is sicker at this point in the disease than anyone with what could be called a mild, or possibly even a moderate, case. He does have the best medical help imaginable. This is to be expected given his position.

As to the Senators, who tested positive, why are they only questioning that Lee says he will quarantine for 10 days, not 14. That is the recommendation for people with significant contact with someone with covid, not someone diagnosed with it. Of course, this also Jim Jordan not quarantining at all!

Consider that for the last several months, the standard for someone who has the virus being clear of it was always a specified period of no fever without any medication and two negative tests. Both houses should have rules that keep any person WITH THE VIRUS out of the building.
