I asked if she thought Obama was a Christian. She said she did not know. I told her I believe Obama is a Christian, a loving and wonderful father and husband, extremely intelligent, and has this nation's best interests at heart. I told her that Mitt Romney cannot be trusted and I would never vote for him and would never vote for a Republican the rest of my life.
I told her that I watched both the political conventions and the Republican convention was horrible.
I told her that I follow politics very closely, do a lot of research, do a lot of fact checking, and that in the past wrote a political column for a progressive web site.
She said that the wealthy already pay more income taxes than the rest of the taxpayers. I said that they should. She asked why and I said because they have more money! I told her about the wealth gap widening over the past thirty years and that tax rates were as low as they have been in years, that wages for the middle and lower classes have been stagnating or declining, that the deficit problem would have to be reduced by taxing the wealthy more because the hard working average American is just barely getting by and cannot afford to pay more taxes.
I mentioned to her that Romney had wanted to let the auto companies go bankrupt and now they are thriving.

I wish I had mentioned that the fiscal problems of this country are because of the George W. Bush unfunded wars and tax cuts for the wealthy. I wish I had mentioned that there would have been no need for a stimulus when Obama took office had Bush been a better President.
I am sure there is more I will think of to tell her next time, but I did the best I could under the circumstances.
Anyway, it ended cordially and I will be seeing her again soon.
