if he can deliver the performance of a lifetime. Everyone but his ardent supporters know what a hole he is in and will be tuning in to see if he can crawl back out/ Trump has the advantage here because he's the one who cancelled the debate and arranged this because he knows people will tune in to watch a train wreck
