This could stop the confirmation, and it would probably hurt Biden's electoral chances. That the Senate would have to take up conviction hearings (assuming it gets through the House, which is doubtful), does not preclude them confirming Barrett, which I guarantee you is McConnell's first priority.

The time to stop this confirmation was in 2016 when some worked assiduously to defeat Clinton in the GE.
