To a European war than 30 years ago and Russia probably doesn't have the ability to reach that far.

I would assume Belarus would ally with Russia. Ukraine and Poland would see the main fighting in a new war. The temptation to use "just a few" tactical nukes to break the lines and push into central European countries would be very strong.
