In reply to the discussion: Now trumpers have shut down the Mario Cuomo Bridge (formerly Tappan Zee Bridge)... [View all]I know it intimately. I drove over it every week for five years to take care of my parents in Jersey.
I watched the entire process progress, weekend by weekend. It was pretty cool They had barges in the river to hold all of the supplies and event trailers for the work crews. They had the largest crane in the country to take apart the old bridge and erect the struts on the new.
3.1 miles long so it was a mammoth undertaking.
LOL more than you wanted to know, Cha.

It seemed like an illogical place to build it since the river is almost at it's widest there....

Yes. They built a new bridge parallel to the old one and now call it the Mario Cuomo Bridge....

You call that a bridge shutdown? Looked like normal NYC area traffic to me.
