(4,653 posts)62. We use it all the time to visit my son and his family in Connecticut
traveling from NJ. When I was growing up, we took the Tappan Zee bridge from Brooklyn and Queens to upstate.
I was somewhat sad to see it go. I loved the low approach where it felt like you were driving on the surface of the Hudson for a while.
I do admit that the Mario Cuomo bridge is very spiffy though.

They built a new bridge alongside the old one and when it opened in 2017 it was named after....
