downtown has been boarding up in response to protests turning violent since George Floyd was murdered by police last May. My apartment building was boarded up again over the weekend in anticipation of a protest that didn't materialize last Friday while I was at the beach.
We've had both BLM protests and white guys with automatic weapons walking around downtown periodically throughout the summer and early Fall, without a repeat of the window smashing and fire setting that happened in May. Artists were engaged to turn the blank plywood into panels of art, and stores, offices, restaurants and glass lobbies reuse those panels when boarding up again.
This is one of those panels created to cover the windows of the coffee corner store of my apartment building 
I'm hoping for a huge turnout today to break the vote totals from 2016. NC voters have already banked votes within about 200K of the total votes from 2016, with about 3 million registered voters who have not yet voted.
Let's go blue, NC and let's stay calm.
