(114,363 posts)and I didn't find out until I got there to vote.
Well, I knew the Republicans had been busy little bees, so I'd made sure to take my voter card and my passport with me and I demanded to know just what the hell was going on. I recited my voting history in local and primary elections up to two months before the Big Day and said I wanted to know just who had taken me off the list. In other words, I was both loud and officious and the Inner Dowager Duchess was fully out and in high dudgeon.
It took them four phone calls downtown and a lot of red faces, but I got to vote that day. This was during early voting and I don't think it would have happened on election day when the place was packed. I also think everyone is going to remember me, the Inner Dowager Duchess has that effect on people.
So please, go in and demand to know what is going on. Voter caging is illegal and the GOP has been fined for it before and they still do it every damned year.
The explanation that you are using a post office box to avoid duns while you're getting out of debt is a valid one, so don't worry about that.
And good for you for getting out from under that kind of debt. One of the happiest days of my life was when I kissed off the mortgage and was 100% debt free.
