Speaking as a child of the heartland, I remember thinking the sophistication of the coastal kids was so enviable. I drove through the epicenter of Appalachia a few weeks ago, Pikeville, Ky. The stereotypes no longer hold. Except for the rough green mountains you would think you were in central Illinois or coastal Texas. Saw no coal trucks. In 1976, it was difficult to maneuver the twisting hi-ways without being run off the road by them. Straight new roadways are being carved through the roughest terrains. I could imagine the Trump signs replaced by Biden signs without too much of a stretch. Sophistication brings impatience with traditional incompetence.

The national psyche is wireless. Success in whatever is left of American politics has fallen into the hands of those who command the short but tenacious attention span realm most people live within. Hammering a cohesive political message continuously WILL work and AOC is exemplary. The sky may well be her limit. Blah blah blah
