(29,465 posts)After his winning streak, people starting rooting for winning streaks and cash pile-ups, rather than just enjoying the game on a night-by-night basis. I understand that they changed the rules so that you could win more than five times - and that part I was fine with - but he ushered in an era of category hopping and Daily Double shopping that I think detract from the game for those of us who like to play along at home. I know other people differ. I had friends who would tune in every night because they enjoyed watching Arthur Chu or James Holzhauer, but I stopped watching during both their streaks.
I was hoping it would be Ted Allen from Chopped, who has a neutral personal i really like, and also some game show bona fides, which Ken Jennings does not have.
Austen the Bartender - he's too much about mugging for the camera. At least Ken Jennings won't do that.
I'm very disappointed, though.
