You were hanging around with a legend. The only pro boxer I ever met in person was one who was KO'd by Carter, Emile Griffith, who I'm sure you're familiar with. I was at a school function where we were lucky enough to get a free weekend at the Concord Hotel in the Catskills back in the late 60's and we got to watch Griffith training there for an upcoming fight. I couldn't believe the impact of his punches on his sparring partner. Later that day several of us got to meet Griffith when we came across him walking down one of the hallways of the hotel.
