(63 posts)My guess (for which I have seen absolutely NO evidence) is that not only was Trump told ahead of time that "the fix was in" and the election was sewed up. But, knowing Trump, the best method that Donald's co-conspirators could use to sell him on the fact that he had a sure thing was to actually take money from him and outline the broad brush strokes describing what his money is going to buy him.
If you look at how he has reacted since then, his level of denial really appears to be much deeper than what one would expect to see from a President that just lost an election. On the contrary, he is acting as if he was actually cheated out of something. He is acting as if he was sold a bill of goods and he is just incredulous that his trusted conspirators cheated him. As he complains and vents and fumes he is smart enough to know that he cannot vocalize the details of his actual frustration. So, he constructs a word salad that is made up of all the promises and various ways that they told him he was going to be able to put his thumb on the scales and then projects his "plans" on the Democrats.
In other words, Donald was played. He was cheated. He was conned out of a great deal of money. And there is absolutely nothing he can do about it. It is no wonder he is frustrated.
(in a couple of years, this might be a good story to make into a movie.)
