to understand, accept and respect the large democratic mainstream he can never overcome, andfrom that comes a lifetime of opposition and hostility. So political psychologists say about zealots.
Hes hardly alone in that; hell never accept the irrationality of his outlook because he knows its essentially true, and even though he briefly alters his message for a while hell always come back to this.
Some people hear the tremendous conviction in his voice and are convinced it means he knows great truths. In reality it means his very rigid views are clear and simple to him. The only right way is his way. Hes currently taking some politically more palatable stances than socialism, but he doesnt really believe in alternatives or compromises with those who think there are. He tries to talk simply and patiently, but you hear lifetime of frustration in his voice with a world that just cannot see.
