Jon Ossoff said: "President Trump is as ever erratic and all over the place, but on this point, tonight, he's right: $600 is a joke. They should send $2,000 checks to the American people right now because people are hurting."
It appears that Mitch McConnell has yet to comment on Trumps' call for $2000 stimulus payment request.
Seems to me that Trump, who has a tendency to speak before he thinks, (if, indeed, he ever does think), has unintentionally given Democrats a nice holiday gift.
With Trump's surprise support for $2,000 stimulus checks, Democratic leadership and the progressive wing of the party have rallied in support of the amendment.
Many representatives, including Bernie Sanders and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, have been calling for $2,000 stimulus checks since the spring, and are piling pressure on Mitch McConnell to make it happen.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi called for a "unanimous consent" hearing of the new proposal.
