(144 posts)this is a book where the hero (yahweh) murders the entire planet, except for one family and representatives of every other animal on earth. he later oblierates two entire cities. he sends his minions to destroy entire cultures. he rewards men who have other men killed so they can take the widows. (king david did this)
he endorsed slavery and gave rules for owning other human beings, and how you can beat them and pass them on to your descendants.
a hero that ordered his biggest fan to murder his own son, only to change his mind at the last minute to prove his devotion to him. (Abraham)
a hero that sacrificed his own son so he could forgive humanity for sinning against...himself. when someone wrongs me, i dont need any type of sacrifice to forgive them. at most, a sincere apology is enough, but i'd rather just not hold that negativity in me and i forgive. but then again, i'm not a so called god.
my point being, if one reads the bible critically, you will see it is not some great moral tome but an ode to the most evil character in all of fiction.
