One of the nicest people I've ever met was Romanian: an engineer named Radu.

He had left Romania in the '70s, and lived in the Netherlands. I believe he's since passed on.

As he still had most of his relatives in Romania, he was reluctant to discuss Ceaucescu (this was in the closing years of his regime). Sometimes silence says more than words.

Thanks for sharing your family's experience. Nothing illustrates like first-hand accounts.
