12. There's no upside for Pence to issue a pardon were Trumpy-Boy to resign.

If he becomes president for a day or a week or whatever, he has no real future as he will be perceived as Trump's doormat. But if he also pardons Trumpy-Boy, his fate will be worse. Gerry Ford was lucky because all that happened to him was an election loss to Jimmy Carter. Pence will fare far worse if he plays into Trumpy-Boy's game. He'll be viewed as having no integrity, no dignity, as a candidate for any office. All through his VP job, he laid himself before the Almighty Trump and allowed himself to be used as the rug that Trump rubs his shoes off. He's played puppy dog on Trump's lap, licking his hands and face at every opportunity.

So if Trump resigns and forces the short term presidency onto Pence, he'll have to pay a price. He may not get the pardon from Pence at all. If Pence has designs for the presidency through an election, he'll have to show some gonads and send Trump begging. He'll have to show some guts. And he'll have no incentive to make a show of it and play along with Trump. There will be no quid pro quo, and if there appears to be, Trump will violate any agreement whenever it's convenient. So there can be no trust. Pence will have to cut the cord if he's to have any future success. Pence will NOT take the heroic approach.
