In reply to the discussion: Nadler supports skipping impeachment hearing at the Cte. and going straight to a floor vote now [View all]quakerboy
(14,868 posts)29. 3-4 things
1- if it could be done rapidly.. it stops the pardons.
2- same if- it removes him from the nuclear codes.
3- If done correctly it makes him ineligible to run again, if he somehow survives the next few years.
And less directly.. he becomes the one that was impeached and removed. That goes in the history books, and it also stains those who have willingly associated themselves with him. And that ain't nothing. I'd argue it also makes the illegitimacy of his occupancy of the whitehouse official. Maybe adds a little leverage in undoing some of the crap he has done to try and wreck the country.

They can't do it by morning. Not even Nadler is saying that. Because he knows better

That would only apply if the Senate also convicts him. Just impeachment alone won't do that.

I think the pardon thing only applies to pardons connected to impeachment so he could still use that

Do this now, before he does something else, before he escapes into retirement to regroup for 2024

Absolutely. We can't afford to just "run out the clock" on a POTUS who is a clear and present danger

I'm with Nadler all the way. He knows a lot more than he's telling. But I trust his judgment.

I would be happy if Speaker Nancy Pelosi brought it to the floor for a vote on Monday
