Had the crowd got beyond those doors and the barricade, they would have made it to the remaining lawmakers who were trapped inside.

Of course the police shot her.

Had she made it through, all the others would have tried - and they would have overrun the few police left inside to protect the lawmakers.

So, yeah. Shots were fired in defense of the lawmakers.

Because that's what happens when you threaten lawmakers in the Capitol.

Nothing innocent about her actions. She just thought she could get away with it.
