(16,894 posts)I've been to many events, such as county fairs, flea markets, things like that. People waited to use the available toilets, even if their need was great. There had to be functioning toilets in the Capitol Building. It is an inexcusable breach of our cultural norms to besmear the seat of our country's government.
Attacking our government is much different than protesting unfairness and injustice. Most of the people who attacked the Capitol will go home to their families or clans, with no physical marks to remember their disgrace. On the other hand, many people who attended BLM and other protests, were harmed or injured and may be facing long-term rehab.
Stealing and vandalism is not okay. I wasn't at any protests. I think that if the protests in big cities are seriously investigated, there will be proof of who caused damage and who stole, and I'm skeptical that it was the actual protesters. Cities like Portland need to submit public reports of findings and they need to be scrutinized.
