(22 posts)First post.......... HI DU.
You know... i felt bewildered watching the debate, but afterwards I started to think there must have been SOME strategy to it. Looking back at Obama's campaign before they were always one step ahead (or more) and always played this game of chess like they were naturals. I think they knew what they were doing... Here's why:
They knew Mitt had to come back to center to go after independents (FLIPFLOP). They knew Mittens had to give a STRONG performance and that he'd probably come across cocky and forceful (smacking down the moderator, I want blood kind of staring). They knew he'd probably come out with stretches, half-truths and lies regarding Obama's record and the current trajectory of the country. Not to mention trying to separate himself from... himself...
Obama didn't go on the attack because they didn't want Mitt on the defensive (YET). They wanted Mitt to come out, be cocky and overly confident and say ANYTHING that came to him. They didn't want him trying to defend his 47% remark (YET - that's an indefensible gimme). They wanted even more ammo to use against him in later debates and ads and THEY GOT IT. Mitt has done nothing but dig a huge hole with even more flipping, flopping, lying, stretching and now they probably have enough ammunition to last until Nov. Watch for several teeth smashing uppercuts to come from the Obama corner SOON.
I half way expect the Biden/Rand debate to go the same way. If it does then I think I'm probably right - or maybe I'm just being hopeful.
Here's to ya.
