(4,892 posts)calling me by my first name. My husband refers to his doctors by their first name and they don't seem to mind. Funny, even though I've had close and long relationships, I still use the "Doctor" addressing them. It makes me feel better some how. If I try to analyze that, maybe I feel more confident about using the formal title for doctors because their professional title makes me feel more confident of their abilities to diagnose and treat me.
When I was Mayor of my town, I preferred that people address me by my first name rather than Mayor Mossfern. I guess whatever makes you comfortable. I want people to respect me, and I respect others because we're all in this mess called Life together and professional title, educational degree or anything else doesn't make some more worthy of respect than others.
I don't know who made "lady" a pejorative, but I just find that silly.
