16. McCarthy isn't that smart.

He went to see T***** to find out what T***** was planning, if Russia was still backing him, and perhaps how to leverage those plans to gain a few more seats in the midterms.

Another thing he may have been discussing was getting backing for a recall run of Newsome and getting T****'s backing for him or his chosen GOP pick for CA governed.

McCarthy was a small town Wunderkind, and has never evolved much past that. He's not very sophisticated, nor does he think much past his immediate goals.
