on his behalf which would have given the Repuke Senators a fig leaf to hide behind. But that wasn't what he wanted.

He wanted them to do something different -- to go in there and knowingly spew overt falsehoods about voter fraud and ballot fraud and election fraud and the election being stolen, like it was a Rudy press conference. That they were unwilling to do -- because of the legal/professional consequences.
