(29,111 posts)McCain had met Palin earlier in the year at a National Governors Association meeting in Washington. McCain said he "liked the cut of Sarah's jib. She's damn impressive." The other campaign manager, Davis, in charge of McCain's VP process, found a video of Palin and was "bowled over." He showed Schmidt and he was too. But they'd never met her. McCain had. There was little time, they needed their choice to be a surprise. It's silly to blame Schmidt for Palin.
