The trigger, I'm afraid, will be economic reality. The not-so-well-adjusted will try to Teabag this country into an emotional tailspin, but that won't get in the way of your relationships with your family and the earth. And they will ultimately fail because they run on hatred and unhappiness.

I recently read about this Spanish writer, Vila-Matas, who's enjoying some late-in-life success around the world now. He writes about two types of reality; the hard-nosed general kind, which is "an unbearable burden, fragmentary and without meaning," and an internal realism composed of our own "fragile fluttering inventions, which can be both beautiful and truly affecting." Reminded me of my own life, as did your post.
