but I don't see the way out of America's Dark Night yet...
We're at an historic turning point for Democracy in this country. It will either be taken to the morgue or cobbled back together, but Democracy in America is on life support. All we who can do is keep the vigil for the critical patient and get the best doctors on it we can.
If there's nothing to do but bear witness, then at least bear witness to the Truth. Speak out against the lies. There is no way to really isolate from what is happening. It will invade like a tsunami on the sleeping village, or an evil wind rocking a tree house. There is no safe haven. (Not saying you should inflict mainstream media on yourself--just that the nasty stream of greed and corruption seeps everywhere and robs everyone eventually). You know what I mean--it's hard to even be in a beautiful place without being wistful for what might have been...
What gets to me is the OPPORTUNITIES missed and thrown away because we are ruled by greed and corruption. The opportunities thrown away because of the polarization of this country. The opportunities deferred because we are always fighting each other--(it has become a "cold civil war"--I don't see that as an exaggeration). So many missed opportunities for working together and improving our collective lot. People have such a hard time visualizing anything better. And such a hard time trusting each other now. The Rethuglicans go on and on about "waste"--they never see the human potential that has truly been wasted.
This country has been looted by masterful pirates. Robbed from within. With the physical state of the planet in crisis we need to be working together to face climate change, the greatest challenge yet. We won't be --we'll be fighting over who gets the last drop of oil. Unless...
