The Democratic party is not going to lurch further to the right policy-wise and become some barely centre left to centrist on over to borderline solid mid-right blob, that is electorally suicidal and would be disastrous for the nation as a whole. And those characterisations (label-wise) are all on the 'very artificially skewed to the right' American scale to begin with. What passes for centrist and centre right in the US would be solidly fairly hard to very hard RW in most all other advanced Western nations.
