I admit I'm a bit stymied by the choice of Tanden. To call me not a fan is to severely understate my dislike of her. She wasn't just partisan, she was an absolute bomb-thrower - especially against the Left - over the years. She's not very well-liked, and she has the Twitter history to prove it.

However.

Bernie got over it. Manchin can, too. It's important to show some unity, get Biden's team in place, and have a nice galloping start to as much as possible. I like so many of his picks, I can let one I really dislike slide.

I guess, after begrudgingly getting boxed in by Biden, Harris, and others on the Covid bill, he was probably looking around for somewhere to stick a knife or two. Either to get a concession or maybe just pique. He thinks the next two years are going to be the party kissing his ass. Biden was not having that. He's probably sulking.

He needs to get on board. But, if this is going to cause a massive problem, fine, whatever. Just nominate someone else. I don't care either way. I just want things to get done. It is far too early for infighting.
