10. When the Soviet Union fell the Russians finally admitted to the Katyn Woods massacre

The Soviets invaded the eastern half of Poland when the Germans invaded from the West in 1939. The NKVD murdered ANYONE they considered a potential threat both then and when they returned in 1944 on their way to crush Germany.

A good example is the Polish Home Army and the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising. The Soviet Army was prepared to move into the city and could have aided the groups vainly struggling to battle the Germans but they did not and so the uprising was crushed. The Soviets shortly after rolled through on their way to the Elbe.

The Nazis killed people for their ethnicity. The Soviets killed people for their thoughts.
