The term is most commonly associated with the activities of organized crime organizations such as the Mafia but in recent years, its been applied to any sort of ongoing illegal practice or scheme."

Also, the lawyer Ms. Willis hired, John Floyd, made a big splash by helping to convict Atlanta principals and teachers cheated of cheating on state tests to help their students. Fani Wallis prosecuted the case and won guilty verdicts against eleven of twelve defendants. That case had nothing to do with business or financial racketeering as we commonly think of it.
