35. Back in the 1970's my parents friend bought a Corvette for his son to take to college.

Kid dropped out after first semester, came home, parents were on a winter cruise, raced around town in the snow and ice, went off the road and hit a utility pole guy wire, broke his neck and was paralyzed, quadriplegic. His college medical insurance was no longer in effect because he had left college. He spent the rest of his life in a nursing home.

It bankrupted the family and the father committed suicide a couple of years later.
