For all the world, it sure seems so. This is the stuff that the decline and fall of empires and superpowers is made of. Republicans, it seems. are intentionally provoking the politically correct hyper-reactivity of the Democrats. Democratic senators like Kirsten Gillibrand, it seems, have learned absolutely nothing since the tragic Al Franken debacle. And Republicans now have a formula for going after, and eliminating, any troublesome Democratic rival.
