she couldn't get her card to work or more likely there was nothing on it. She had dug up about 3 bucks in change. She needed 8. They were in the process of putting things back so she could afford them. My husband said, "no, I'll pay it." he chipped in the missing 5 bucks. I wish he had slipped her a 20 too. Didn't occur to him at the time. I bet she could have used it.
