18. I was at a Kohls once where two women were buying some kids' clothes--using discount coupons

Kohls cash--looked like several people had probably contributed for the purchase--and they were short about
$5.00. They were trying to figure out what to put back...and I said I would cover it. They looked at me
like I was nuts--and I wondered whether it was racial (they were black and I'm white). I told them...pay it forward...
the time will come when you can...but they refused my offer.

It saddened me. I wouldn't have minded giving them the money at all. They just wouldn't accept it.
